The additional day of selling will give an opportunity for those vendors that have been on a waiting list. These new vendors will be joined by more seasoned producers and growers, to give the customer, a wonderful shopping experience. Watch our facebook page for updates!

Same great location, we are easy to find, just watch for all the smiling folks

at the Market on East State Street.

BANNER ON THE WEB PAGE WILL BE CHANGED AS SOON AS WE CAN!!!

Is the Market Moving??

There has been quite a bit of talk around town about Athens Farmers Market!

~This is a good thing,we love all the attention~

What we do want you to know, is that we are currently looking for a permanent location for our Market. We have outgrown the current location and are acitivley pursing  leads on a new location. As we have grown, our needs have changed too. Due to our size we need parking for at least 300 vehicles. We  would like plumbing and electric on site as well. The AFM site committiee has been working diligently following up on leads and gathering information on possible locations. .

But, this is going to take time, so please bear with us as we continue to work thru these growing pains.

Currently our landlords are working with us to remain where we are until a site is found and developed. For set up on our market days we will be moving towards the Cinema area of The Market on E. State. The owners of the Cinema have requested that we utlize the back of the Mall for our parking as to not to interfer with their Saturday matinee cusomters.

The winter market begins the first Saturday in December. There is a handy entrance at the back of the Mall . Why not visit the vendors indoors, warm up a bit then venture outside to the famers outside? Sounds like a plan to me!

Thank you so much for supporinting our Market, we appreciate every one of you!

Winter Indoor Market

Our winter indoor market starts the first Saturday in December. Many vendors choose to go indoors while others remain outside throughout the entire year.

There is ample parking in the back of the Mall, with an easy entrance to the mall in the back. Why not walk thru the indoor market this year, even if you are shopping the outside vendors?

Its a chance to warm up before you head outside!

See you at the Market.

Our Market is Growing!

We are 41 years strong and we continue to grow, so much so, that we have outgrown our current location. The community of Athens is showing its support for our market by helping us during this time of expansion. We, as market vendors are asking for specific help as we join hand in hand with The Voinivich School at Ohio University to complete a feasibility study.

Here are some things you will see going on:

Traffic counts: There will be traffic/attendance counts of the Market
between  July 23-28 and August 9-15. This will involve (1) automatic counters
at the automobile entrances to the market; (2) volunteers taking customer
counts at specific intervals during the August 10th and August 14th
markets.Traffic data will be collected on both market
days and other days and, if possible, several periods during the market
days.
Customer Feedback: On August 10th and 14th, there will be a booth for
customers to record their buying preferences, reasons and frequency of
attendance and other information.A simple card survey will also be taken and gift certificates offered for selected
participants.
Volunteers conducting the study will be identified by market tee shirts
and name tags.

We hope that our market will continue to flourish and provide healthy food for our community. We hope to sustain this growth  by your help, as you shop and support our local farmers and producers, as you share  with us and others, and as you show you care. Thank you so much during this time of transition.
